Linda Braun

Linda  was born in Rock Island, Illinois, and  grew up in Los Angeles.  After receiving a  Bachelor of Art in Art and Literature from Johnston College in Redlands, CA, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota for ten years.  Her long career in education was launched when she earned a teaching credential in Early Childhood Education from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul.   In 1989, Linda moved with her husband and two young children to join her extended family here in Tucson, and taught at Tucson Community School for four years.

Linda first learned about Anthroposophy and Waldorf education from her first college roommate in 1975.  Linda was an integral part of the founding of Tucson Waldorf School, serving as the first lead teacher when the school first opened with one kindergarten in 1993. She received her Waldorf  Kindergarten certification in 1994 from Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, CA and taught kindergarten until 1999. From 2000-2006, she served as the Children’s Education Director of Congregation Chaverim, continuing with occasional volunteer opportunities at the Waldorf school.  In 2006, Linda returned full time to TWS as a grades class teacher, and embarked on the amazing journey of teaching a wonderful group of students from Grade 1 to Grade 8.  Upon their graduation, the faculty asked Linda to take on the position of Pedagogical Director, which she began in August , 2014.

Linda has two grown children—Clare, who is a writing instructor at Oregon State University in Corvallis, and Willie, who is the cellist of Skyros Quartet, based in Seattle, WA.  Mrs. Braun is a master knitter and enjoys road cycling and cooking healthy, gourmet food.
