SUMMARY:Harvest Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Harvest Festival is a parent-run and invite-only event for enrolled students and their families. This magical event is highly revered by both children of all ages and parents alike. Live music\, homemade breads and soups (creating an impressive potluck spread)\, a warm fire\, dancing and costumes are regular features of this event. The Early Childhood faculty carefully craft the highly anticipated Protected Path (for children in first grade\, kindergarten and nursery). The Protected Path is inspired by a fairy tale that changes each year. Parent volunteers organize the Quest Path for children in Grades 2 and up. This event is a safe place for the children to dress up and have fun during evening hours. Homemade costumes are encouraged and appreciated. Volunteers needed! To sign up for a slot\, please e-mail Volunteer Coordinator\, Linda Biederman.

SUMMARY:More Than Honey Film at The Loft Cinema
DESCRIPTION:Co-Presented by Tucson Waldorf School and The Loft Cinema\nWhat is killing off the world’s bee populations at an alarming rate? This dire situation is devastating to the human species\, too; without bees\, one-third of the world’s food would not exist. To find answers\, Academy Award-nominated director Markus Imhoof (The Boat is Full) travels the world\, talking to and observing the inner-workings of beekeepers\, farmers\, and scientists. Through the use of amazing point-of-view cinematography that defies the imagination\, we actually soar through the air with the bees. Heartfelt\, gorgeously shot\, and surprisingly suspenseful\, More Than Honey is an important and thought-provoking film exploring the urgent need to discover where the buzz has gone. (Dir. by Markus Imhoof\, 2012\, Switzerland/Germany/Austria/US\, in German & English with subtitles\, 95 mins.)

SUMMARY:Adult Eurythmy Class
DESCRIPTION:with visiting Eurythmist\, Athena Boyer\nJoin us for an opportunity for self-development with this adults-only Eurythmy class every Thursday in April with visiting Eurythmist\, Athena Boyer. Eurythmy is an expressive movement art originated by Rudolf Steiner in conjunction with Marie von Sivers in the early 20th century. Primarily a performance art\, it is also used in education\, especially in Waldorf schools\, and as a movement therapy. \nRudolf Steiner has given us the wonderful healing gift of eurythmy. To stand before a child we must become a healthy representative of the archetypal human being. For it is who and what we are that the children will imitate and learn from\, not from what we know in our heads alone. The experience and practice of eurythmy is invaluable for our own self-development as individuals. The word eurythmy stems from Greek roots meaning beautiful or harmonious rhythm; the term was used by Greek and Roman architects to refer to the harmonious proportions of a design or building. \nClass is free but donations are warmly appreciated. For more information\, call 520.529.1032 or email us

SUMMARY:Watercolor Workshop with Leo Klein
DESCRIPTION:Leo Klein\, a self-taught Dutch artist and educator\, spends a few months each year traveling the U.S. and mentoring teachers and parents in schools across the nation. Leo Klein exhibits widely in the Netherlands and North America. His work is found in private collections in many countries. “It is the task of art to change the world. With every artwork we create something in the world that does not get lost. Through art we develop the ability to transform something of a lower quality into a higher one. My paintings are created out of this mood and awareness. They carry the title ‘Healing the Earth.’” -Leo Klein

SUMMARY:Film | Race to Nowhere
DESCRIPTION:The Dark Side of America’s Achievement Culture\nBack by popular demand\, this documentary provides an intimate view of the pressure on today’s students who lead lives packed with activities leaving little room for down-time. This film reveals the silent epidemic in the nation’s schools: cheating is commonplace\, students are disengaged\, and stress-related illness and depression are rampant. Young people arrive at college and the workplace unprepared and uninspired.
