Sarah is from Ellicott City, Maryland and moved to Tucson over twenty years ago to attend the University of Arizona where she received a degree in Accounting and Finance. After graduating college, Sarah worked at a Sales and Use tax consulting firm in Phoenix, and met her husband, Tomas, a co-worker. They moved back to Tucson to open an Allstate Insurance agency in 2002. When her son was born in 2007, she left the finance world to become a stay at home mom.
Sarah first learned about TWS and Waldorf education by going on a tour of the school in early fall of 2014, while she was looking for a sweeter, less academic preschool for her daughter Sofia and eventually, her youngest daughter, Melanie. She instantly fell in love with the philosophy and campus and knew this was the school environment for her children and family. At the time, Sarah’s son Tomas was enrolled at Khalsa next door, and although he seemed like he was doing okay there, TWS had more to offer. Sarah dove into getting involved right away and hasn’t looked back. She led craft circle for two years, served as a room parent for two years, worked with helping to develop AWSF for over a year, and currently serves on the TWEA Finance Committee as well as the AWSF Board of Directors. In the Fall of 2018, Sarah was hired as the Sunflower Garden assistant and now works with Ms. Ursula in the classroom.
Sarah has witnessed in all three of her children how the Waldorf approach to education truly does inspire a lifelong love of learning. Her children feel comfortable in their bodies and confident about themselves.
For fun Sarah likes to read, do yoga, meditate, hike, and travel, and loves all plants. Having grown up in Maryland, she loves learning more about Arizona. Sarah and her family have 3 dogs and 3 chickens.
