The Tucson Waldorf School, celebrating its 31st anniversary, is a thriving educational institution situated in the scenic foothills of the Catalina Mountains. Tucson Waldorf School is Seeking a full-time Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Full-time Early Childhood Assistant Teacher(s) to join our team for the ‘24-25 school year. The EC Assistant plays a pivotal role in the classroom, providing essential support to the lead teacher in various tasks, including organizing materials, food preparation, and ensuring the well-being of our young children.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the lead teacher in organizing classroom materials and activities.
• Aid in food preparation for students.
• Maintain a warm and balanced demeanor while interacting with children aged 2.5-6.
• Embrace and implement essential indications of Waldorf pedagogy.
• Occasionally assume the lead teacher role in the absence of the primary instructor, managing all tasks and activities effectively.

Requirements:

• Ability to maintain a warm and balanced demeanor while working with young children.
• Openness to learning and implementing Waldorf pedagogical principles.
• Capacity to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Capacity to be outside for long periods of time in all weather conditions
• Able to kneel, sit, and bend to the ground with ease throughout the day
• A minimum of two years experience in early childhood education is preferred.

Additional Information:

• This position is full-time and hourly.

• The school year begins on August 7, 2024.

Two Part-Time Nursery Extended Day Position

The Playgarden program has two extended day positions open for the 2024-2025 school year.

This position works 11:30 a.m. – 3:45p.m. Monday – Friday, and involves working with nursery-age children. Individuals must have an interest in learning more about the Waldorf approach to meeting the needs of the young child.

Substitute Teachers – for all programs and classrooms

Tucson Waldorf School is accepting applications for Substitute Teachers to work with children in the Early Childhood from ages 2-6.  Daily tasks may include assisting the lead teacher in preparing snack, tidying the classroom, supporting the rhythm of the day through indoor play, outdoor play to snack, storytime, and nap.  Minimum Job Requirements include: A High School Diploma, and at least one year’s experience working with young children, and an interest in learning more about Waldorf education. Copy of diploma or transcripts must be submitted at time of hire. Additional Requirements after hire: FBI fingerprint background check. Substitute teachers are paid $18 per hour. Physical Requirements:

• The ability to  lift, hold, and carry a child weighing up to 45 pounds for short periods of time.
• Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
• This position will occasionally require short bursts of running.
• This position requires a person to be able to sit on the floor for extended periods of time and be able to get up with ease.
• The person in this position must be comfortable working outdoors in hot and cold weather.

About TWS and Tucson:

We offer two nursery classes and three mixed-age early childhood classes, with students ranging from ages 2-6, and a full Grades 1-8 program, serving over 200 students and their families; many more families with very young children come to participate in weekly parent-child classes held on campus.
