About Us:

The Tucson Waldorf School, celebrating its 31st anniversary, is a thriving educational institution situated in the scenic foothills of the Catalina Mountains. With over 200 students from Nursery through 8th grade, we offer six early childhood classes, including parent-child, nursery, and kindergarten. Accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN), our school prides itself on fostering a rich and diverse learning community.

Class Teachers for the 2025-2026 School Year

Tucson Waldorf School (TWS) is seeking passionate and dedicated Class Teachers to join our faculty for the 2025-2026 school year. We invite applications from Waldorf-certified teachers or those nearing completion of an accredited Waldorf teacher training program.

Several of our cherished, long-time teachers are retiring or transitioning due to family commitments, creating an opportunity for new educators to join our vibrant community. We welcome candidates who bring enthusiasm, engagement, and a strong commitment to fostering a rich learning environment for children. Exceptional teachers with experience in other educational approaches and a willingness to embrace Waldorf pedagogy are also encouraged to apply.

Established in 1993, TWS is an independent Waldorf school serving families from Early Childhood through Grade 8. Our programs include Parent-Child classes, Nursery, Kindergarten, and First through Eighth grades. We are proud to be Arizona’s only school recognized as a full member of both AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) and WECAN (Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America).

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary Range: Starting at $41,800–$44,420, commensurate with experience and education.
  • Additional Compensation: Annual tenure credits and cost-of-living adjustments.
  • Benefits Package:
  • Health insurance: 90% of the premium covered for employees; 70% for family members.
  • 403(b) retirement plan (non-matching).
  • Paid time off.
  • Tuition remission for eligible dependent children.

Grade 1Class Teacher for 2025-2026 School Year 

Tucson Waldorf School seeks experienced and passionate Class Teachers for Grade 1 to join our dedicated faculty for the 2025-2026 school year. We welcome either Waldorf-certified candidates or nearing completion of an accredited Waldorf training program.

Substitute Teachers – for all programs and classrooms!

Tucson Waldorf School is accepting applications for Substitute Teachers to work with children in the Early Childhood from ages 2-6.  Daily tasks may include assisting the lead teacher in preparing snack, tidying the classroom, supporting the rhythm of the day through indoor play, outdoor play to snack, storytime, and nap.  Minimum Job Requirements include: A High School Diploma, and at least one year’s experience working with young children, and an interest in learning more about Waldorf education. Copy of diploma or transcripts must be submitted at time of hire. Additional Requirements after hire: FBI fingerprint background check. Substitute teachers are paid $18 per hour. Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to  lift, hold, and carry a child weighing up to 45 pounds for short periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
  • This position will occasionally require short bursts of running.
  • This position requires a person to be able to sit on the floor for extended periods of time and be able to get up with ease.
  • The person in this position must be comfortable working outdoors in hot and cold weather.
