Sariya Jarasviroj Brown

Sariya Jarasviroj Brown immigrated to the USA from Thailand as a toddler and grew up bridging two continents and two cultures.  Sariya attended college at Boston University in Boston, MA and later transferred to Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO to complete her undergraduate work in Sociology. She moved away from the dry mountain air to brave the dry desert heat to attend Arizona State University for her graduate work in Religious Studies. She loves living in Tucson with her family. Her first introduction to the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner came through her undergraduate and graduate exploration of how a People’s belief systems influence their use of land. Tucson Waldorf School seemed a natural choice for her youngest child who began in The Quail’s Nest in 2011 and has been with the school ever since. Sariya cherishes Tucson Waldorf School’s invitation in welcoming each child’s unique and emerging self while keeping the children rooted in community.

Sariya has served on the TWEA Board since 2020, first in the capacity of M.O.R.E. Committee Chair, then as an at-large member representing the interests of the DEIJB Committee. From 2022 – 2024 she served as Vice-President with a focus on strategic planning. Before her board service she contributed to the school as room parent and co-chairperson for fresh!. She was honored to help the school inaugurate a board chartered committee for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in 2021.
