Monyka Salazar

Monyka was born in Mexico City long time ago. She moved to Albuquerque NM from Ensenada BC where she studied Oceanography, her second degree and started in a graduate program on environmental engineering at the UNM, but family matters took her to Birmingham AL where she graduated instead as an anthropologist/archaeologist. At this point her child needed a kindergarten and found a wonderful and magical school called Birmingham Waldorf School! She decided to leave her research position at the UAB to become the Spanish teacher for three years and to be closer to her child; then she interviewed four teachers including Linda Braun who became her child’s teacher for the 8 years. Monyka was, also for a time, wearing several hats at the Tucson Waldorf School as we teachers do, as early childhood after care, substitute teacher for 6th grade and her longest position in TWS as Spanish teacher. When her child Kambíz graduated Monyka returned to work for science. With the infamous pandemic life as we knew it changed, and impacted her job and career as well, and Monyka found herself praying for a job where she would be happy and healthy; and she did!
