Mike Sousa, a Tucson native, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education from the University of Arizona. With experience teaching both lower and upper elementary grades across variousĀ schools, they know the value of alternative pedagogies. In addition to their teaching career, Mike has worked extensively at native and succulent plant nurseries.
Mike has spent much of their life tending a personal garden and chickens, and they are excited to nurture and cultivate the garden program at TWS. Their never-ending fascination with the natural world lends itself to an enthusiasm for sharing this wonder with others, and is evident in their dedication to sustainability. Outside of the classroom, Mike enjoys biking, backpacking, creating art, and, of course, growing far too many plants.
