Violinist Robyn Sato is a teacher and performer of almost 10 years. Originally from Austin, Texas, Robyn began playing the violin at age 3 in a Suzuki violin studio based in San Marcos, Texas where she first fell in love with music. During her formative years, Robyn performed with many orchestras including the Sun Valley Summer Youth Symphony, and at the Austin Chamber Music Academy. While in high school, Robyn got her first taste for teaching, where she volunteered as an Assistant Violin Teacher at the Austin Korean School. In 2012, Robyn began her college career at Texas State University where she performed with the Texas State Symphony Orchestra and worked as a beginning violin teacher in String Project, a program that offered strings education to children in the community. Robyn had the opportunity to take a year-long study abroad in Tokyo, Japan where she continued her violin studies under Suzuki Violin Teacher Mami Ichikawa. With guidance from her professors and inspiration from her time abroad, Robyn successfully auditioned to become trained as a Suzuki Violin Teacher. At the time of her college graduation, Robyn had received training and was registered for the first 4 units of the Suzuki Violin Method and had begun growing her private studio in Austin, Texas.
Robyn has continued her education in strings, receiving training in cello and viola as well as extensive training in various fiddling styles including Old Time, Irish, and Scandinavian. Robyn, her husband Katz, and daughter Sophia moved to Tucson in July 2022 and recently welcomed their second daughter, Heidi, in March of 2023. In addition to music and motherhood, Robyn enjoys gardening and learning about plant life, especially the local flora of the Sonoran Desert.
