Naomi Wetzel McCoy

Naomi grew up in Bisbee, Arizona, and attended the University of Arizona where she received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in communications. While looking for alternatives to the current paradigm in education for her daughter, and after hearing glowing reviews about TWS from friends whose children attended, Naomi fell in love with the Waldorf approach. What stood out most to her was the Waldorf focus on the whole child and not just academics. Naomi and her daughter joined TWS at the start of the 2017-2018 school year when Naomi was hired as the Communications Director and Sophie enrolled in the Star Garden kindergarten with Ms. Maggie.

Most of Naomi’s professional career has been spent working in public relations and volunteer management for local nonprofits, including the Amerind Museum and the American Cancer Society. Naomi was also the first (and at the time, only) paid employee of the Tucson Festival of Books during her tenure there as Director of Communication and Development. Naomi’s husband, Ron McCoy, is a local photographer and together they have one daughter. Naomi is also stepmom to his two amazing, young-adult daughters. In her spare time, Naomi enjoys reading, reading, reading … also, writing; sometimes running; traveling with her family every chance they get; and learning new things.
